SME Career Development Center (CDC) and Self-Access Language Learning (SALL) Centre are jointly organizing a workshop on Intercultural Communication Skills.
We all know how to communicate, but doing so effectively and appropriately actually requires a great deal of awareness and practice. In this workshop, the speaker will offer an overview of the methods, styles, and skills of effective communication that could be helpful in the workplace. Since many students intend to pursue further study abroad, special attention will be given to Western expectations and conventions. Workshop participants will be introduced to simple and concrete, yet highly important, intercultural communication skills. Becoming an excellent communicator is a long process, but in this workshop students will learn techniques they can immediately implement to improve their communication.
-be able to define effective communication
-understand the importance of choosing the right communication method
-reflect on their communication style and its effectiveness (especially in a Western setting)
-learn several essential strategies to immediately improve communication
